A database is an organized electronic collection of many sources, including print sources.
Okay...so what does that mean?
It means that you can search thousands of magazines, journals, newspapers, and books (among other kinds of sources) all from the comfort of your computer.
Pretty nifty, eh?

The World Digital Library (WDL) makes available on the internet, free of charge and in multilingual format, significant primary materials from countries and cultures around the world.
DPLA, Digital Public Library of America, aims to create a national digital library. DPLA offers millions of photographs, manuscripts, books, sounds, moving images, and more. DPLA allows you to search by timelines, maps, and exhibits from museums.
Need access to art images and information from around the world? The Museum of Online Museums houses online exhibits from museums around the world. They not only have current exhibitions but also archived exhibitions from museums like The Met and The Musee d’Orsay.
The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the nation's record keeper. Of all documents and materials created in the course of business conducted by the United States Federal government, only 1%-3% are so important for legal or historical reasons that they are kept by us forever.
Those valuable records are preserved and are available to you, whether you want to see if they contain clues about your family’s history, need to prove a veteran’s military service, or are researching an historical topic that interests you.

Search the Dewey Catalog by topic and be linked to apps and/or websites like the Smithsonian, PBS, etc… What is Dewey you ask? The Dewey Decimal System, named after Melvil Dewey, is how Libraries organize all of their books by topic. Want a book on History or Geography, look in the 900s. Want a book on Law, look in the 340s. This website gives you all of the topics! Just Do the Dewey with this link.
