Practice & Preparation for the PSAT
#1 - Digital PSAT Introduction Video
The College Board (the company who offers PSAT) has a great introduction video on YouTube to help explain the digital PSAT. Please take a moment and watch it now: What to expect with the digital PSAT (2:45).
#2 - Explore Bluebook & Login Info
Bluebook is the term used for the digital app that you will use to access the practice PSAT as well as on test day for the real PSAT.
- Login Slips - Emails are sent about 2-4 weeks prior to test day. Keep watching your emails for instructions. Login Slips may be picked up at the Finance Office.
- Students Must Login Prior to Test Day - Please use your Login Slip to access your Bluebook account on your school-issued device. This must be done prior to the test day.
- Bluebook App - Our Tech Dept has downloaded the secure app on your student Chromebook. Please make sure you can find it (click here for directions) and begin practicing with the resources provided. If you are struggling, please reach out to the following for assistance: Mr. Alek Shibko, IT Tech, ashibko@rjuhsd.us

Benefits
PSAT Benefits
Students benefit from taking the PSAT in several ways:
- It identifies their academic strengths and weaknesses early in high school, when there's plenty of time to improve before college.
- It lets them know which Advanced Placement (AP) courses they're most likely to do well in.
- It's a great way to practice for the PSAT/NMSQT in 11th grade, which qualifies them for the National Merit Scholarship Program and a chance to win recognition and money for college.
- When they take the PSAT, your child can opt in to Student Search Service and connect to over $300 million in scholarships. Learn more about scholarships.
- It's a great way to practice for the SAT, a test that's an important part of college applications.
- Your child can use their PSAT score to get a free, personalized SAT practice plan through Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy®.
Please note that the PSAT and SAT are not required for college admissions in many California colleges and universities. Please research your school ahead of time or visit with your counselor for assistance.
